The Charlie Challenge

I know this "Charlie Challenge" has been going on for a while and I basically ignored it, thinking it was just a teenage slumber party game.

I WAS DEAD WRONG

The Charlie Challenge is a ritual to summon a demon.

Yes, I said demon.

"Charlie" is not a friendly ghost giving advice to naive teenagers. The set up and wording is an ancient, supposedly, Mexican ritual to summon demons. Much like the Ouija board, it summons unwanted guests into your home. I have been researching this and if you don't say Goodbye to "Charlie", things will start happening in your house. Like bad things. Because that's what demons do. They play nice at first but things will turn sinister fast.

I don't know who started this stupid game, but they need to have some sense knocked into them. You DO NOT mess around with this stuff. Many of the teenagers doing it have no idea what they're doing. They have no idea that they are summoning demons into their home. They have no idea they are inviting demons into their lives. And most of all, they have no idea how powerful these demons could be or how dangerous this game is.

DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME!

Even if you are an experienced paranormal investigator or demonologist, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME

If you are one to the naive teenagers or curious adults who have done this game, I suggest contacting someone who can do a blessing on your house and cleanse it. If you have played and you are experiencing strange things happening in your house, contact someone who can help.

And hopefully you'll have learned your lesson not to **** with demons.

SPREAD THE WORD, THE CHARLIE CHALLENGE IS DANGEROUS.

I Am Not An Object

Hello, friends. I know I've been gone a while but now that I have internet of my own, it's time I address an issue that is plaguing this country and the world in general. And it is past time, I say something about it.

Back in 2012, the issue of women came up. Which personally shouldn't have been an issue to begin with. But the comments I started hearing from candidates made my blood boil. Which is also a reason I will never vote for this candidate on anything he runs for on the national stage. Rape became the big conversation and that conversation is still going on.

I should have addressed this a long time ago. While I have never been the victim of sexual assault, I have women I consider my sisters that have been. And it kills me that their attackers go on about their lives as if nothing happened while they continue to be traumatized.

I'm tired of reading stories of how the woman is blamed. I'm tired of being told that I have to be careful. I hate the fact that I have to keep looking over my shoulder when I'm by myself somewhere. I hate that when I'm alone that I have to walk with a key between my knuckles in case I have to defend myself. I hate that both my husband and brother-in-law have asked that I get my concealed weapons license and a handgun. I hate that women are told they need to dress a certain way to avoid being raped.

I'm tired of being blamed because I was born a woman.

I'm tired of being an object.

I am not an object.

While I haven't been the victim of sexual assault, I have been the victim of sexism. At a previous job, I had a supervisor that completely disrespected me because I was a woman. He brushed off complaints from me and the other women. When I passed out on the sales floor, the first comment he had was about me being pregnant (I was a virgin at the time) After I left the job, an employee called me a stupid bitch after his wife verbally attacked me. I was told I deserved it.

I can't count how many times I've been out and had men come up to me with their come on lines. How many have checked me out like I'm an option on the dinner menu. How many have not taken me seriously because of my gender.

I went out with my husband and one of my best friends on my last birthday for a night on the town. We went to an amazing piano bar. A good ways into the night, four men came in and almost immediately started objectifying me. They started to play a guessing game with my name and coming onto me. Right in front of my husband. I was grateful that I was with him and not my girlfriends. Not that I have too many girlfriends to begin with. My thinking was because I was with two men, then I must have been looking for a good time, right? Sickening.

Being wolf whistled at while walking across a parking lot. Having someone stare at you while you're in line at the grocery store. I've even had someone stare at me in their car while driving. All of this doesn't make me feel like a person. In today's world, I feel we are just eye candy. And if we fight back, than we're bitches and hormonal. We're angry so we must be on our periods. And it must be out fault that a man can't exercise self-control.

People make it out like it's a mental condition when a man rapes a woman.

He couldn't help it.

You shouldn't have dressed like that

What did you do to make him rape you?

You probably wanted it.

You were asking for it.

This is your fault.

Why did you let him?

I will probably be called a bitch for this entry. Personally, I don't care. If addressing a topic that most people want to sweep under the rug makes me a bitch, so be it. But I do want to clarify that I am not a man hating feminist. I don't blame men for everything. I am also aware that the reverse happens. That women rape men.

But my point is that women shouldn't be treated as objects. As toys to be played with and then thrown away.

We're people, too.

Returning to the Blogging World

Hello, friends.

I am making a return to blogging! Yay! Miss me? Haha.

All joking aside, you will be having my two cents on current events once again starting in January.

I know it's been over a year since I ave posted last but I have a legitimate excuse. I had to get a new laptop because the old one decided it was either a bird or a gymnast and did a flip off of a computer table. Add to that problem, my cell phone company had stopped offering broadband services and didn't bother to tell me that I'd been paying for a service they no longer offered. Grr. Thus I no longer have internet at the house.

That's been that way for the past year. I've also been having some personal issues with myself and focusing on my writing.

Speaking of writing, I recently completed (and won) my third NaNoWriMo. And I am officially hopelessly addicted to writing as I only took a one day break after the crazy 30 day, 50k word writing binge before diving right into a new project.

With that said, I will see you in the New Year with my tongue in cheek take on the world.

Until next time,

And have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from the Ice Queen

Apologies

I've had so much going on this year that I have failed to make posts since Feb when I had my plagiarism incident.

Where to start?

Well, I guess the most important update is the Anthology my short story, Beyond the Grave, is featured in was published back in Aug. Dawn of the Living Dead is a collection of paranormal stories by some of the most talented young writers I'm honored to share a book with.

I will also admit to having some issues with my internet connection and a lack of interest in writing a blog this year. Hopefully that will change soon...

Until next time, my friends

Plagiarism

Those of you who know me also know I like to write fan fiction as well. Mainly from the Dragon Age video games. It came to my attention today that one of those stories, Broken, a short story told by the character Fenris about his complicated relationship with my PC (player character) Alexandria Hawke, was posted on another site without my permission. A lovely young lady messaged me on deviantART, one of the sites the story resides (the other place being facebook), asking me if I was Emma Shepard. After browsing my gallery, she saw I do not do the Mass Effect games (The PC's last name in those games is Shepard) thus she asked me if I'd given Emma Shepard permission to post it and provided me with the link. I saw Broken was indeed on that site and without any credit whatsoever to me. Thus I have reported her for plagiarism.

Now those that know me, know that I'm not easily riled and it takes a lot to get on my bad side. And yes, I do have a bad side. Stealing something I wrote, even if the world and character belongs to Bioware, is something that will put you there easily. And for the record, when I write fan fiction or use a character that belongs to someone else, I clearly state who they belong to. Emma Shepard did not do that. If she had asked for permission first, I may have allowed it as long as she credited me for it. And even without permission, if she had credited me I would not be so pissed off about it.

And I will say this, if Emma Shepard was a writer at all, she would respect another writer's work.

Lesson of the day:

DON'T STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S CREATIVE WORKS!

Out of Hiding

I don't even remember the last time I updated this. Not that anyone has noticed as I barely have any followers, but I digress. I am back with my view of the world.

Ok I just checked and I haven't been seen since the Halloween Special...

Well I do have an excuse for Nov. I participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and I was completely focused on that for the Month of Nov. As that was my first NaNo, I was actually surprised that I reached the 50,000 word goal and then some. (I finished with over 68,000). And I will be participating again in Nov of this year.

Of course, Dec is always our busy month with folks going out of town and leaving their critters and the critters eating stuff they shouldn't...

I really have no excuse for Jan and most of this month aside from working on edits for my novels...

Until next time

The Banyan Tree

ICE QUEEN'S FROZEN WORDS

presents

TRUE GHOST STORIES

Where my aunt lives, there is a military camp. Behind the walls of the camp is a Banyan (also known as Peepal in Hindi) tree. As she was sitting on her roof on a beautiful sunshine filled winter day, she saw someone or something climbing the branches of the tree. She knew it wasn't one of the soldiers as it wasn't wearing a uniform and no one else seemed to see it. It frightened her and she felt that it was an evil spirit climbing in that tree. She ran from the roof and into her room in no time flat. This happened sometime ago.
